Vermilion River Bridge
Wow, did our 2018 go out with a bang. A major Voyageur Country ATV wish was granted. We were awarded $1,176,400 from the IRRRB Regional Trails Grant to construct a 185ft. free-span bridge over the Vermilion River. This bridge creates an important connection, expanding a major trail system to be enjoyed by the riding public. Thank you, to all of you who put so many hours in to help make this happen. A grateful and excited Voyageur Country ATV would like to extend a special Thank You to the IRRRB Regional Trails Grant Program. We expect construction and completion of this bridge to occur in 2019, with a ribbon-cutting being planned at the ATVAM Fall Ride and Rally event being held here Sept 20-22.
July 2016: IRRRB Grant awarded to our Club for signage and the development of an ATV System Map.
October 2016: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate the opening of 8 US Forest Service Roads and St Louis County Roads, for the purpose of connecting to hundreds of miles of wooded ATV trails.
May 2017: MN State-wide ATV Dedicated Account awarded us $150,000 to create a wide-scale Master Plan including the engineering of a trail extension and bridge over the Vermilion River, and Engineer trail enhancement between the resort community of Crane Lake and the US Forest Service Recreation & Picnic area at the Vermilion Falls.
July 2017: The First ever Voyageur Country ATV System Map mailed to the membership. 5,000 copies printed!
February to June 2018: Voyageur Country ATV Master Plan presentations in St. Paul for potential funding.
July 2018: Vermilion Falls Picnic Site Project was completed including six brand new picnic sites with tables, improved parking area, and landscaping. Thank you Yamaha "Outdoor Access Initiative" and Lake Country Power "Operation Round Up" for making this project possible!
September 2018: Fox Sports TV - Destination Polaris was here to film Voyageur County ATV trails airing Nationwide Spring 2019.
Voyageur Country ATV vision is a 538 - mile corridor route and trail system throughout Northern St. Louis County and Koochiching County. The envisioned trail system will utilize mostly existing corridors and wooded trails while creating some needed connectors. We are pursuing the funds for trail enhancements and funds to build a bridge and a boardwalk, both needed to complete loops for better riding opportunities on the map shown here.
